England go 2 up at Lord’s

The Investec Ashes Second Test Match Day One

England completed victory within 4 days to go 2-0 up in the series. Joe Root was man of the match for his 180 in England’s second innings.

As Australian wickets, we had great fun in the TMS box. Geoff Boycott told the Prime Minister how to run the country, Keane sang live, Len Goodman was a brilliant View from the Boundary and actress Ruth Wilson brought a coffee and walnut cake. Comedian Jack Whitehall talked of his love for cricket, Steve Waugh joined us in the lunch break on the first day and comedian Michael McIntyre popped in for tea. Jim Maxwell and I had to share BBC equipment as we interviewed both captains at the end of the match.
